What To Do When They Don't Support You

If you reach out to someone in your life, they are almost certainly dealing with a problem. Life obstacles will never cease arriving at us: the death of a loved one, a breakup, illness, the demise of a business, the loss of a friendship, a sick pet... We often wonder what we've done to deserve such hardships, and we may even wonder where we'll find the strength to persevere.

Over the years, I've faced a few obstacles: sudden and traumatic heartbreak that permanently destroyed my brows (it was the 1990s, and I overplucked), chronic illness that saw the end of a successful career and my ability to do some of the things I enjoyed, the loss of lifelong friendships, the death of a best friend, and so on. I'm aware that I'm not alone in my struggles.

But, as I've gotten older, I've learned to react and respond to problems more successfully. I've learned to be resilient, and I've worked hard to instill in myself a strong feeling of self-confidence and positivity. Years of being thrown around by life's difficulties

1. The more significant the difficulty, the more significant the transformation

THIS! It has to be the first. As I negotiated years of chronic fatigue syndrome, and actually every struggle since, this was the most reassuring learning, the finest possible guidance I could have been given. It's because it's so true. I emerged from my sickness with a completely new life, a business that allows me to pursue my passions, a dog that keeps me calm and company, and, most importantly, good health.

2. Feel all of your emotions; don't pretend they don't exist

Don't push down or ignore your feelings, whether they're sadness, grief, rage, guilt, humiliation, or irritation. What is pushed down must ultimately come to the surface, and all too frequently this occurs in the form of an uncontrollable outburst of emotion, disease, anxiety, or tension.

Do you have a bad mood? Allow the tears to flow as you lie down. Angry? Punch cushions, yell, stamp your feet, and get some exercise. Whatever the case may be, remember that you're human and that these emotions are meant to be felt and then gently let go of over time.

3. Make an informed decision about your business

If necessary, be ruthless. Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you, and who, most importantly, listen to you. You need individuals in your life who are looking out for your best interests. People that are toxic may judge, criticize, project their own garbage onto you, or even dismiss you.

You get to make the decision. Improve your skills!

4. Have a discussion about it

Putting things in a bottle can lead to considerably more serious issues - trust me, I know! Living alone makes it easier to dwell on unresolved difficulties and ruminate, which can lead to far more serious problems. There are moments, I'm sure when meeting up with a friend is the last thing on your mind. Yet, how many times have you forced yourself to do so just to return home feeling grateful for the effort, relieved at the new perspective, or energized with new strategies to assist you to navigate a path forward?

Isn't it true that a problem shared is a problem halved?

5. Seek assistance

Isn't it satisfying to give? When you're hesitant to ask for help, keep this in mind: most people like assisting others. Reach out to a friend or loved one if you're having trouble coping. Alternatively, seek expert assistance and make an investment in yourself during this time.

You are not a solitary being. People adore you and are concerned about your well-being.

6. Keep things in perspective

Make a mental note of yourself.
We have a tendency to exaggerate things. Have you gotten a sense of perspective on this problem in the grand scheme of things?

7. Take care of your time and make good use of it

People set boundaries! They are yours to utilize and enforce as you see fit. Schedule alone time in your diary if you're an introvert who requires it to recover. If you're at capacity, learn to politely decline dinner invitations, coffee requests, and meeting requests. You need to work on this if you're saying yes to keep people happy at the expense of your own health and wellness.
